Aguas Calientes - Día 1

We found a cute, open restaurant for lunch and I opted for some mexican cuisine (yeah, I know, Mexican in Peru? def. worth it.)
Enchilada de pollo

so EXCITED for food!
Then for dinner we went to another open restaurant across the small river. Apparently, I was craving peaches, because I got it in both juice form and on chicken.
Jugo de Durazno (peach juice)

Pollo de Durazno

After dinner, Mom and I wanted a strong cup of hot, black tea with milk...but instead we got hot milk with a tea bag in it. Surprisingly, not bad.
Té caliente con leche

Bienvenidos a Perú

So everyone warns you about eating certain foods (like raw, unwashed veggies) and drinking the water in Peru. But from what I see so far, there's still LOADS of foods worth sampling!
Choclo (maíz) peruano and queso peruano.
This corn was literally bought on the side of a dirt road, out of a boiling pot of water. Totes safe.
Me stuffing my face with delicious choclo y queso.
After our tour at the Sacred Valley of the Incas, we went to a small pizzería for dinner where we split 2 delicious pizzas and mad sure to drink lots of Inca Kola, a super popular gaseosa en Peru.
INKA KOLA
I swear, Inka Kola = Big Red. Maybe Big Red's a southern thing, but this peruvian drink is it, just in yellow form instead of red.

Pizza Alemana

Pizza Napolitana
So far, I'm finding the food in Peru to be COMPLETELY different from that of Argentina, but amazing in its own right.

Tuesday = tortas, theatre and delicious empanadas.

FINALLY made it to the empanada place by campus that everyone raves about.

Trust me, they weren't wrong. Delish!!

Also, they give you free treats with your empanadas! presh.

My torta/pre-show treat at Cafe Bonafide on Avenida de Julio.

Ary's torta; we shared both and they were both heavenly!

Yes, I went to MUMA's twice this weekend. It's my last week here, no judging.

Monday the 20th was a feriado, so no class. Also on feriados, Gabriela and Abuela make a feast that looks something like this.
Feriado-style dinner. Millanesa de pollo, torta de choclo, remolacha and some kind of potato-ish salad.
Despertador smoothie from Bblue.

Café Ole cupcake from MUMA's.

Carrot cake cupcake.

look how yummy on the inside!

Another Lazy Lunes...

Since there's only 2 weeks of class left, I feel justified in taking a "me" day every once in a while. Today was one of those days...
Lunch at La Salamandra.  and a frozen limonada.

salad with chicken, tomatoes and corn

merienda time at Starbucks: roll de canela.

and as always, café de día. with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

for dinner, yet another wonderful creation from chef Abuela.

Torta de Manzana (topped with helado and canela)

café con leche in equally sweet china :)

weekly samplings :)

ensalada at dinner.

Pasta; i'm not sure if this was gravy or some crazy argentine sauce, but it was delish.

Ary! notice how she was given lots of bread and the salt shaker. Abuela has stopped asking if i want bread haha.

Came home from school and Nacho was making brownies!

still warm from the oven :)

The Famous MUMA's

Duende cupcake = pistachio.
